One genre I don’t out too much stock in: self-help books. That would include that highly marketable subcategory of “parenting.” However, I am going to make an exception at this point. I know that Ava is only 7 and it is not the end of the world if I am not a perfect mom and she will likely not be living on the streets selling herself for heroine in 10 years, but that’s pretty much what it feels like right now. I have no idea how to parent her. NO IDEA. I’ve read Love and Logic. It’s okay when it comes to obvious parenting tactics, but what is the logical consequence for furniture tag? For cutting a hole in the brand new shirt I just bought her? For downright cruelty to her little sisters? It just doesn’t always work. So… any recommendations?
